The travel radius displayed on your profile page informs clients about the distance you are willing to travel for in-person sessions. Your radius is a circle of distance around the “mailing address” listed in your “My Preferences” section that is used as an indicator of the general area within which you are willing to travel to hold lessons. This helps FitnessTrainer identify which new in-person client requests to notify trainers about, and also helps give potential clients an idea about which trainers are willing to travel to their location. Some trainers may still be willing to travel further than the default radius on their profile, or agree to a meeting location between themselves and their clients and this decision is at the trainers’ discretion.

Your hourly rate should take into account any expenses you might incur while traveling inside your travel radius for lessons, including fuel expenses.

Trainers are not permitted to charge additional fees for any travel within the radius presented on their profile. Also, please note that trainers are not permitted at any time to charge per mile, or per minute of travel.

If a client who retains your services through the FitnessTrainer site resides outside of your travel radius and you agree to work with that client, you may compensate for the extra travel by increasing your hourly rate for that client. All costs associated with training clients who retain you through FitnessTrainer must go through the site, and rate change increases must be agreed upon by a client before the lesson begins.

Potential clients outside your travel radius may find and contact you. If you’re unwilling to travel to a client for lessons, simply inform the client that they are outside of your travel radius.
